The Western Metropolitan Region is one of nine DEECD regions within Victoria. The Region consists of 146 schools across 161 sites of which 100 are primary, 30 are secondary, four combined primary and secondary, 10 Special Schools, one teaching unit, four Special Units and the Western English Language School. Some 66,000 students attended the government schools within the Western Metropolitan Region. The Region stretches from Melbourne’s central business district in the East, Melton in the West, Werribee in the South and Keilor in the North and covers the eight local government areas of Wyndham, Melton, Brimbank, Moonee Valley, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Hobson’s Bay and Hume. Wyndham Vale Prep-9 College - Information for enrolments Wyndham Vale P-9 College Stage 1 facilities are currently being constructed and will open in 2009 to accommodate students in Years Prep - 7. The additional Specialist component will open at a later date. Funding of $7 million was announced in the 2008/09 State Budget to construct facilities in Stage 2 of the project. These facilities will be constructed during 2009. The process for selecting the Principal for the college has commenced and it is anticipated this process will be completed prior to end of Term 3, 2008. Once the Principal appointment has been confirmed further information will be disseminated to all parents who have children commencing at the college in 2009.
